| Construction of new steel sheet processing line at SB Coil Center Thailand |
| |
Sumikin Bussan is constructing a new factory building and processing line at our wholly-owned Thai subsidiary, SB Coil Center (Thailand) Ltd. ("SBCT"), so as to meet the powerful demand for steel sheet among Japanese companies operating in the ASEAN region.
SBCT, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sumikin Bussan, has continued to operate at full capacity so as to meet the strong demand for steel sheet of manufacturers of automobiles, electronics, and other products in Thailand since it was established in 2004 as a coil center focusing on steel production.
In anticipation of increasing future demand for steel sheet, the new factory building will be erected on a neighboring site. Work on the new facility began in January of this year, with assembly of the big leveler followed in succession by the big slitter. The leveler is scheduled to go online in July 2011, while the slitter is planned for operation in January 2012.
Construction of the new processing line will broadly increase SBCT's processing ability (including secondary processes such as blanking), lifting it from 10,000 to 18,000 tons/month.
