To foster higher health and safety consciousness at the Group's affiliates, Sumikin Bussan Corporation's Steel Company and Machinery & Metals Company held the Sumikin Bussan Group's Third Health and Safety Conference on Friday, March 14, at Arai Seisakusho Co., Ltd. (Aisai, Aichi Prefecture).
The 60 participants included Deputy President Miyazaki, Senior Executive Officer Meguro (President, Steel Company), Executive Officer Tahara (General Manager, Personnel Department) and representatives and health and safety officers from 19 Group affiliates.
Based on Sumikin Bussan's Three-Year Management Plan, the Steel Company and Machinery & Metals Company are working to enhance processing and manufacturing functions. In so doing, we consider health and safety management at manufacturing and processing sites a top priority, having actively worked for three years to improve health and safety conditions at those sites.
In the current fiscal year, Nishinippon Kogyo Kaisha, Ltd., and Okayama Harada Pipe & Tube Co., Ltd. (Harada Industry Co., Ltd.) were chosen to receive Excellence Awards, with Effort Awards going to Izumi Kohan Co., Ltd. and Nakakin Lease Co., Ltd. The new Excellent Health and Safety Motto Award went to Takeshi Hattori at Sumibutsu Metal Corporation, for his motto, "Assumption, habituation and haste cause accidents."
